Minnesota Farm Bureau legislative priorities include generational farming
The 2025 Minnesota Legislative Session began this week and Minnesota Farm Bureau director of public policy Loren Dauer says the organization has several priorities.
“This year with everything that’s going on, we wanted to take another stab at what really is affecting our membership on the ground level. And one of those priorities includes our generational farming.”
He tells Brownfield Minnesota Farm Bureau is seeking expanded eligibility for the Beginning Farmer Tax Credit and an increase to the Estate Tax exemption.
Another priority is around clean water and soil health, Dauer says.
“As you know, farmers are truly the original conservationists. And we want to keep up with our stewardship of the land, and we want to keep having these conversations around best management practices. As well as just different grants that assist with that.”
Minnesota Farm Bureau has also made animal emergency preparedness a legislative priority for this year’s session.
