Minnesota farmer 3 weeks out from harvest

A southwest Minnesota farmer anticipates a better-than-expected crop.

Joe Serbus grows corn, soybeans, and sweet corn in Renville County and also works for a crop insurance company.

“And in my three county area, even though limited rain, the corn crop really looks good.”

For soybeans, he tells Brownfield it’s hard to speculate.

“It’s almost like you want to get out there and start harvesting, that’s when we’re really identify what the yields are.”

Serbus, who chairs the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council, says soybeans and some corn should be ready to harvest in about three weeks.
