Minnesota farmer considering more corn on corn in 2025

Many crop farmers are considering changes with margins expected to be tight again in 2025.

Southwest Minnesota crop and livestock producer Krist Wollum says he’d like to stay with his usual rotation.

“But I am looking at possibly a little bit more corn on corn, so it’s very likely it could happen.”

He tells Brownfield cutting back on inputs can be risky.

“You really want to do your best to produce the best crop you can every year, so it’s really hard to put a lot on the chopping block. I think a lot of people are just trying to do some value shopping right now.”

The Porter-area farmer says he’s looking for the best value on inputs to hopefully put together a profitable year.

Brownfield interviewed Wollum at the Minnesota Cattle Industry Convention in St. Cloud Friday.
