Minnesota farmer gets early start to planting

It’s an early start to planting for a farmer in southwest Minnesota.

Bryan Biegler of Lake Wilson says the weather has been cooperative.

“Besides the wind, that seems to be awfully windy around here this month. But it’s been a nice spring, we finally got started planting (Monday). Probably one of the earliest starts we’ve had in quite some time, especially after the last couple of springs we’ve had.”

He tells Brownfield soil conditions are excellent.

“I suppose about a week and-a-half, two weeks ago we got a little over 2 inches of moisture between rain and snow that really helped. We’ve got the top little bit with moisture to plant really nice.”

Biegler says the past two springs were extremely wet, resulting in drawn-out planting seasons.
