Minnesota farmer selected to American Farm Bureau leadership program
A Minnesota farmer is one of 10 American Farm Bureau members selected to participate in AFBF’s Partners in Advocacy Leadership program.
Amanda Durow of Hastings says it’s an exclusive, executive-level opportunity for farmers.
“It’s a two year program, and we’re building skills on advocacy, communication, and leadership so we can bring it back to our home farms, bring it back to our communities, advocate for U.S. agriculture and U.S. farmers. And really just bring that message of agriculture to all.”
She tells Brownfield program participants are in Washington, D.C. working on legislator relations, mock interviews with members of Congress, and going to witness testimony.
“And really just building that skillset, so when we get that opportunity, because we will, we’ll get tasked early in our careers as farmers to just really put the message of U.S. agriculture out there. We’re representing American Farm Bureau, but we’re (also) representing that American farmer and being that stronger voice.”
Durow is a fifth-generation crop and dairy farmer who also works as a relationship manager for CoBank.
