Minnesota farmers focused on small grain and sugarbeet harvest

Minnesota farmers continue to harvest small grains and sugarbeets while waiting for corn and soybeans to mature.

The USDA reports as of Sunday barley is 87% harvested, oats are 95% harvested and spring wheat harvest is 85% complete. Sugarbeet harvest is also underway with 6% complete and 93% considered good to excellent.

11% of the corn crop has reached maturity with just 39% considered good to excellent following a hot, dry week. Corn for silage harvest is 32% complete.

Soybeans dropping leaves reached 12% and the crop is rated 47% good to excellent.
