Minnesota Women in Ag Network summer tour features Redhead Creamery
The Minnesota Women in Ag Network is responding to member requests by visiting a livestock farm that sells directly to consumers.
Administered by the University of Minnesota, Extension educator Sarah Schieck says the Network’s summer tour features Redhead Creamery near Brooten in central Minnesota.
“This summer tour is (a result) of some of the feedback we’ve received from some of our participants that have come. They said they wanted to visit a livestock farm and also wanted to learn about farm-to-market. And we think the Redhead Creamery is a perfect place to get two birds with one stone.”
She tells Brownfield any woman involved in agriculture is welcome to attend the event August 16th and learn more about the Network.
“We are getting more women involved in agriculture, and it’s important to reach out to them and provide programming that’s specific to them. So (the tour) is an educational opportunity, but also just to form a network. We’re hoping that the women who do come to our summer tour can meet other women involved in agriculture and set up kind of a network amongst them.”
Pre-registration is required by August 9th, and the tour of the dairy farm and Redhead Creamery will begin with lunch at 12:30 on August 16th.
