Mississippi crops suffer during “very hot and dry” 2024

A difficult growing season is winding down for east-central Mississippi farmer Philip Good.

“The entire south has gone through a very hot and dry year.”

Good farms near Macon and says his corn yields were slightly below average.

“Partially because so much of our (corn) is irrigated. But on our soybeans, our yields are definitely hurt.”

Good tells Brownfield corn harvest is done and he’ll be finishing up soybean harvest this week.
