Missouri 4-H highlighting members during 4-H week
This week is National 4-H week and Missouri 4-H Council President Ethan Vanderwert says it’s all about the members.
“4-H is all about growing leaders and so finding what sparks, what makes them tic, whether that’s a future career, a hobby, something they like to do; we’re trying to promote through 4-H and so that’s this year’s theme is to find a spark,” Vanderwert said.
He tells Brownfield Missouri 4-H has been highlighting member accomplishments this week, like…
“Jared’s Jams from Edina, Missouri…,” he said. “There’s a great story behind it how he sold at a lot of farmers markets and stuff. He worked through 4-H and loved making these jams taking that through and farther up selling at fairs, festivals and now is recognized by the Lieutenant Governor of Missouri and making it a true Buy Missouri product.”
Vanderwert said National 4-H Week provides a better platform to promote membership as member registration opened October 1st. He said interested youth should reach out to Missouri 4-H on social media or through their county extension office.
