A St. Louis area teen is being recognized by the National 4-H Council for leadership in her community.
Kaycie Hollrah a ten-year Missouri 4-H member was named a Youth in Action award winner for her role in launching the Extension Council Youth Leadership Program.
“My goal was not only to find those that were very engaged members of their community, but also to make sure that we all have the opportunity to create lasting impacts on our community.”
She tells Brownfield 4-H helps foster leadership skills, and by developing this program it has created opportunities for other young people.
“I’ve seen multiple kids from my club, from my county, and even from Missouri and National 4-H as a whole who have been able to take a skill that they were interested in within the 4H program and build that into a career,” she says.
The 4-H Youth in Action Awards began in 2010 to recognize 4-Hers who have created a lasting impact in their communities with a $5,000 scholarship.
