Missouri Farm Bureau members work on policy priorities
More than 500 Missouri Farm Bureau members are setting policy priorities for the year at the annual meeting.
Vice President Todd Hays says grassroots ag policy development is one of his favorite parts of the meeting.
“When it’s finally done, it’s done, and then that’s our policy for a year. So as the board of directors and our staff go to talk to people at the Capitol or in Washington D.C., this is what we’re telling members of Congress, state lawmakers or agencies.”
Hays says energy, solar and private property rights, like eminent domain, remain on farmer’s minds.
“We’ve got good policy there, but we’re kind of strengthening it a little bit.”
Farm Bureau members also continue to monitor foreign investments in the United States, and discussed policy responsible development of new data centers, and defining regenerative agriculture.
Any policy changes are expected to get their final stamp of approval during the final hours of resolutions Tuesday morning.
