MO corn “good to great” as July wraps up

Consistent rains have been helping the corn in northern and mid-Missouri.

In Carroll County, Nathan White says corn is doing great.

“2014 was a good year. I don’t know if it will get up to that in our area this year, but it looks decent,” he says. “The hill sides are excellent. The lower river and creek bottoms might have had too much water early on, but they have mostly rebounded.”

In Moniteau County, Russell Wolf says it’s one of the best corn crops he’s seen in years.

“It’s filling kernels right now and getting close to being made. It’s not there yet.”

There’s hot weather in the forecast, but Wolf says there’s ample moisture in the ground that should help the crops get by. He says more rain will be needed in August to help the soybeans.
