MO forage supplies continue to move lower

Forage supplies continue to decline in Missouri due to the dry conditions.

USDA’s latest Crop Progress and Condition report says supplies are 63% short to very short as hay cutting continues. Missouri’s stock water supplies are 58% adequate. Pasture conditions declined slightly in the previous week at 54% fair to good.

Topsoil moisture supplies are 63% short to very short with subsoil moisture at 68% short to very short.

Corn conditions are rated 47% good to excellent, a slight increase from the previous week. Soybean conditions are rated 45% good to excellent, with planting nearing the end and most of the soybeans emerged.

Cotton squaring is at 22% complete, ahead of Missouri’s five-year average with the crop rated 68% good to excellent. Rice conditions are rated 57% good to excellent.

USDA says winter wheat harvest continues at 21% complete with the crop rated 55% good to excellent.
