Modest changes for weekly ethanol production

U.S. ethanol production rebounded slightly last week.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1.073 million barrels per day, up 5,000 from the previous week’s holiday impacted activity, and 4,000 above a year ago.

Operating margins have tightened, but ethanol producers continue to expect strong consumer demand.

Ethanol stocks were reported at 22.648 million barrels, a decrease of 355,000 on the week, but an increase of 548,000 on the year,

The Renewable Fuels Association says net inputs of ethanol purchased by refiners and blenders and the volume of gasoline supplied to the market were both higher than the week before.

Ethanol exports averaged 123,000 barrels per day, 3,000 less than the prior week and 1,000 below last year.

The USDA expects 5.5 billion bushels of corn to be used for ethanol production this marketing year, with the next guess out January 10th.
