Moran says “hard to get a handle on” federal cuts

A U.S. Senator from Kansas says it’s hard to get a handle on changes happening in the federal workforce.

Jerry Moran tells Brownfield the situation changes daily.

“We need to see the method by which the decisions are being made and what’s the long-term plan? If there are reductions here, what does it mean and where does that money go? I’m in favor of a deficit reduction, but what’s the White House’s plan?”

He says there’s not only a lack of transparency about the job cuts at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, but funding cuts as well.

Kansas State University recently said it will be suspending operations at the two Feed the Future Innovation labs in mid-April, due to some stop-work orders within the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service.

Brownfield interviewed Moran at a KC Agribusiness Council meeting in late March.
