More ag export promotion funding available from USDA

The USDA says an additional $300 million is available in grants to grow exports through the Regional Ag Promotion Program and ag groups are responding positively.

The U.S. Meat Export Federation was a recipient in the first tranche of RAPP funding. President Dan Halstrom says the emphasis this program has on market diversification is critical and RAPP is an excellent complement to the USDA’s Market Access Program, Foreign Market Development Program and checkoff investments.

USDA says interested ag organizations can apply for grant money to help expand their customer base beyond China, Mexico and Canada. The deadline to apply is October 4 and USDA says it’s expecting allocations to be announced before the end of the calendar year.
