More rains coming to Delta
A meteorologist says hyperactive tropical weather is expected to bring more moisture to the Delta in the next week.
Greg Soulje tells Brownfield “likely there’s more flooding/rainfall coming to the Delta and some of the tropical moisture could work its way outside of the Delta into the worst areas on the U.S. Drought Monitor.”
He says these wetter conditions provide a much different outlook this year than 2023 when conditions were drier, but rains can bring other challenges.
“Sometimes you can go from a perfect looking cotton, soybean or sugarcane field to being obliterated due to too much rain.”
He says all eyes are on Hurricane Beryl, which is expected to bring 4 to 8 inches of rain to southern Texas as the storm continues to make final landfall.
