More than two thousand dairy products entered in contest
More than 24-hundred entries have been received for this year’s United States Championship Cheese Contest®. The U.S. championships are hosted in odd numbered years, and the World Championships in even numbered years by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association.
The best of the best dairy products will be judged next month in Green Bay, Wisconsin as judges evaluate cheese, butter, cultured products, and dry dairy ingredients across 117 classes. Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded to the three highest-scoring entries in each category. Judges evaluate each product and calculate a precise score based on attributes including flavor, body, texture, salt, color, finish, and packaging.
The dairy product manufacturers are very competitive, and for a good reason. Placing in the top three helps build brands and attracts new markets and top dollar for their dairy products.
