Much needed rain comes to Wisconsin

Many Wisconsin farmers received some much-needed rain last week.  USDA reporters say topsoil moisture is now 72% adequate, but 19% short and 5% very short.

Seventy-seven percent of the corn is silking with 20% now in the dough stage.

Eighty-seven percent of Wisconsin’s soybeans are blooming with 57% setting pods.

The potato harvest is underway and 10% finished, three quarters of the winter wheat is harvested for grain, and 94% of the state’s oats are coloring with only 30% of the oats harvested so far.

The third alfalfa cutting is 62% finished, and most of the second crop is now done.
