The senior director of public policy for NASDA says he’s hopeful the incoming Trump administration will tackle the ag labor crisis.
RJ Karney tells Brownfield the ag industry sees a workable solution for H2A reform. “We need to be able to find a way that we can get year-round workers for the livestock industry and for the dairy industry. That will at least be a significant step in helping H2A reform be workable.”
He says it’s one of NASDA’s top priorities for 2025. “The big issue is going to be getting that seat at the table and that’s where we need to make sure we utilize that we had more than 70% of rural America vote for president-elect Trump. That allows us to be a very strong advocate and one that should be highly welcomed within the incoming administration.”
Karney spoke to Brownfield the 2024 National Association of Farm Broadcasting Convention in Kansas City.
