National Farmer Veteran Coalition Conference underway
The National Farmer Veteran Coalition is drawing more and more veterans into agriculture.
President of the Michigan Chapter Nick Babcock tells Brownfield the coalition is a way to help veterans find resources that can make them successful in agriculture. “We see that there’s still a huge growing population, especially in Michigan, of veterans who are involved in agriculture, so the next 12 months we’re really working hard at continuing to reach new people and let them know so that we can tie them into resources.”
Babcock says when he was medically retired from the Army in 2013 agriculture gave him a positive outlet to rebuild and the Farmer Veteran Coalition has allowed him an opportunity to give back to his fellow veterans.
Babcock spoke with Brownfield during this week’s National Farmer Veteran Coalition Conference in East Lansing, Michigan.
