National Farmers Union sets 2025 policy
The National Farmers Union has set its policy priorities for 2025.
Rob Larew, NFU president, says the organization’s delegates are focused on advocating for America’s farmers and ranchers.
“In so many parts of the country, the farm economy is really in question, and it looks extraordinarily bleak,” he says, “so farm economy is driving a lot of the decisions right now for delegates and I think that’s reflective in the policy that they adopted.”
He tells Brownfield, “They remain very focused on getting that right farm bill, a strong safety net in the farm bill, across the finish line this year.” He says, “Also making sure that we’re sending strong signals about the impacts of tariffs, and an overall theme about trying to get more certainty about what the White House, DOGE, and USDA are doing in terms of plans and cuts.”
Larew says NFU’s policy dictates the message the organization’s lobbyists carrying to lawmakers at both the state and federal levels.
Brownfield spoke with Larew at the conclusion of NFU’s 123rd annual convention In Oklahoma City.
