National FFA interns discovering careers in ag through FFA Live!
Twelve university interns are highlighting the stories of National FFA Convention through an FFA Live show to discover career opportunities in the ag industry.
Junior Lilly Pryor is studying agricultural education and agribusiness communications at Huntington University.
“The FFA live program is just a really great way to show convention and all of the behind the scenes to those that may not be able to attend in person,” she says. “Whether they’re FFA members or just people from the outside world, wondering what really happens in FFA, we’re here to tell the story of the people.”
She tells Brownfield it’s been a learning experience so far.
“I didn’t grow up with an ag background, so I felt like that was going to be a good way to connect with those people who really didn’t grow up in agriculture but want to know about it,” she says. “I felt that this was going to be a great platform to connect to those people who are already tuning in to kind of see, but then get to dive into it more.”
Pryor says she’s enjoying learning more about the communications industry.
“Being in this role, we’re multimedia journalists, which means that we are covering all the different types of media,” she says. “We’re doing, the videos, broadcasts, radio interviews, turning those into stories and social media posts. We’re getting to learn all of these different aspects of what it means to be a journalist in many different facets.”
FFA Live! includes live broadcasts of each general session, Finals Hall presentations, historical footage, interviews and additional information about the FFA member experience. The 97th National FFA Convention runs through Saturday.
