The president of National FFA says members are celebrating ag education.

Thaddeus Bergschneider from Illinois says more than one million members are participating in National FFA Week activities.

“It’s not only about the members that we have an FFA right now, it’s the hundreds of thousands of FFA alumni we have,” he says. “All the people we have who work in agriculture, who weren’t in FFA originally, but who have become supporters. All the people in communities who support agricultural education and FFA.”

He tells Brownfield students across the country will have the opportunity to give back to their local communities.

“A lot of chapters use FFA week as a way to get out in their community and start a new service project,” he says. “We get to celebrate not only that we have an FFA chapter, but what our FFA chapter can do. Everyone in our 9,000 chapters across the nation, they’re all doing individual, unique, special things for their communities.”

National FFA Week runs through February 22nd.
