NCBA pleased with ag transportation bill

National Cattlemen’s Beef Association President Kevin Kester says the organization is pleased with Senate introduction of the Modernizing Agricultural Transportation Act.  The bill requires a Transportation Secretary-appointed group to address implementation of electronic logging devices and the hours of service rules opposed by many livestock haulers.  Kester says he’s glad to see the bipartisan effort to provide relief for livestock haulers. He says the NCBA wants to work with Congress, industry groups, and the Transportation Department to find solutions to transportation concerns.

The bill was proposed by Republican John Hoeven of North Dakota and Democrat Michael Bennet of Colorado.
