NCGA President says expanding markets for corn and ethanol needs to continue
Expanding trade markets for corn and ethanol is a priority for the National Corn Growers Association.
NCGA President Harold Wolle says passage of the Next Generation Fuels Act is needed.
“Which provides for even higher blends of ethanol in the nation’s gas and allows engine manufacturers to design and market the types of engines that can use higher blends,” he says.
Eight Midwestern states applied for waivers from to sell E-15 blend fuel in the summer.
He says the group also wants more trade agreements that favor U.S. agriculture.
“Free trade agreements work. We need more of them, but we are in a protectionist environment that does not serve the ag community well,” he says.
But, Wolle says the U.S. needs to avoid unnecessary trade wars.
”There’s plenty of folks out there that need our corn and soybeans. We need to be able to provide it to them,” he says.
Brownfield interviewed Wolle at the 2024 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa.
