NCGA President travels to promote corn exports

The new President of the National Corn Growers Association is making connections for possible corn export deals.

Jed Bower farms in Ohio, but tells Brownfield he is spending much of the winter making new corn connections including a trip to Spain this week. “We’re going to work through some trade deals there with our sister organization, the U.S. Grain and Bioproducts Council, reassure our foreign partners that America is a true, safe trading partner. We are reliable. We are the most sustainably-grown corn in the world, and we will be there whenever they need us.”

Bower says the U.S. has had a huge year for exports, but more bushels need to be moved.  He says After Spain comes a similar mission in Amsterdam, followed by a Coppenhagen tour of a container ship that runs on ethanol. “Talk about some of the hurdles there as they move around the world, and logistically how we can help facilitate the fuel supply with that, and how we can expand that amongst their fleet.”

Bower says the maritime fuel market is a one hundred billion gallon market that corn farmers and ethanol producers would love to have a part of.

Bower spoke to Brownfield during the Wisconsin Corn-Soy Expo in Wisconsin Dells.
