Near-record week for U.S. ethanol production
U.S. ethanol production last week was a multi-month high.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1.133 million barrels per day, the second highest on record, rising 39,000 on the week and 37,000 on the year.
The all-time average was set during the week of January 9th, 2026 at 1.196 million barrels per day.
Positive ethanol margins and demand expectations are driving production and aiding domestic corn usage.
Still, demand signals have been mixed recently, with the supply growing for the fourth consecutive week.
Ethanol stocks of 24.726 million barrels were up 245,000 from the previous week and 10,000 from a year ago.
The Renewable Fuels Association says net inputs of ethanol purchased by refiners and blenders, and the volume of gasoline supplied to the market both saw week-to-week increases.
Ethanol exports averaged 137,000 barrels per day, falling 21,000 from the prior week and 17,000 from last year.
The USDA’s updated corn for ethanol use guess is out August 12th.
