Nebraska farmer faces replant issues

An eastern Nebraska farmer says he’s had to replant more acres than usual this year.

Quentin Connealy tells Brownfield some heavy rains in late April and early May caused issues. “We had a good run here the last couple of years. I don’t think we’ve hardly replanted anything, so I think we got spoiled for a little bit. But this year has been kind of a whirlwind of emergence not coming up through the heavy rains, a little bit of crusting, just a little bit of spotty issues where we had to go in there and replant with like a little six row on corn.”

He says he finished replanting within the last week and now he’s shifting his focus. “Finish up post spraying corn on the early stuff, starting to spray some early beans. All coming together for a week of fun.”

Connealy raises corn and soybeans along the Missouri River.
