Nebraska grain company to stop operations over licensing violations

A south-central Nebraska grain company has violated state law and has been ordered to stop operations.

An investigation from the Nebraska Public Service Commission found that Roberts Seed Inc in Axtell has been purchasing and storing various amounts of commodities from Cornhusker farmers without a proper license.

The Commission also says farmers should stop transporting and storing grain there. Commission Vice-Chair Kevin Stocker says the company has been blatantly disregarding state law.

In 2018, Robers Seed Inc was fined by the Commission and was prohibited from grain dealer activities without obtaining a Grain Dealer License.

PSC says it will file a complaint and once the company receives it, it will be required to show why it shouldn’t be assessed civil penalties.
