Nebraska producer sees fast planting progress, improved moisture conditions

A northeast Nebraska farmer says he’s been having an exceptional planting season.
Greg Anderson raises corn and soybeans near Newman Grove.
“Planted about 75 to 80 percent back home,” he said. “We had a nice second half of April and now we’re getting some rains.”
He tells Brownfield his area has been receiving some adequate moisture which could help improve conditions on the U.S. Drought Monitor.
Anderson adds that his planting pace has been faster than usual.
“We had ideal planting conditions there for a couple of weeks,” he said. “We got started about as early as I could ever remember – April 13th. We were putting soybeans in then. Early for our part, but a lot of people were rolling. Now, we’ll see how the rest of the growing season starts.”
He spoke to Brownfield at the NAFB’s 2026 Washington Watch.
