Nebraska regulators restore Hansen-Mueller license following $2.1 million settlement

A Nebraska-based grain dealer has been ordered to pay $2.1 million in restitution to farmers as part of an agreement to reinstate its license.

The Nebraska Public Service Commission reached the deal with Hansen-Mueller Company to immediately pay all producers and fulfill remaining debts with other dealers and warehouses by February 2026.

Hansen-Mueller’s license was suspended October 24 after state investigators found multiple farmers hadn’t been paid for their grain. PSC Chair Tim Schram says the agreement protects the public interest while holding the company accountable.

The company began issuing some outstanding payments electronically and via mailed checks the week of Oct. 27. The PSC is asking producers who have not received their expected payment from the company within the next two weeks to contact the Grain Department.
