Nebraska Soybean Association has new president
The Nebraska Soybean Association, at its recent annual meeting in Seward, elected Ken Boswell of Shickely as its new president.
“One thing I hope to accomplish is to be a spokesman for the association at the Nebraska legislature—to get bills introduced and passed that are beneficial to soybean producers of the state,” Boswell says. “I also want to increase membership in the Nebraska Soybean Association.”
One issue expected to come up in the next legislative session is how to fund future water projects in the state.
“Basically, on the water funding, we want it to come from a broad-based source, so it’s not just a small segment of the economy that’s paying the whole expense of the water issues,” he says, “because water is important to everybody in the state.”
And on the issue of property taxes, Boswell says the NSA is calling for the assessed agricultural land value in Nebraska to be reduced from 75% of market value to 65% of market value.
