Nelson named Illinois’ Director of Agriculture
Illinois’ Department of Agriculture is under new leadership. Former Illinois Farm Bureau president and Seneca farmer Phil Nelson will serve as Governor Bruce Rauner’s Director of Agriculture.
Illinois Farm Bureau President Rich Guebert says Nelson’s appointment is good for Illinois agriculture. “He’ll do a great job serving as the Director of Agriculture,” he says. “But as many know, Illinois has some real challenges in front of them and who better to grab the bull by the horns and get the job done, along with our new Governor and our legislature.”
He says it’ll be important for the state to stop the bleeding and address some of the real fiscal issues in the state of Illinois.
