Net farm income expected to improve in 2025
An extension economist expects net farm income to improve this year.
Pauline Van Nurden with the University of Minnesota says USDA’s Economic Research Service projects a 26 percent improvement compared to 2024.
“And that’s for all types of farms across the United States, so within that crop farms are still expected to see a challenging year. Probably a little bit similar or decreased net farm income overall.”
She tells Brownfield financial aid from the federal government will help.
“That will be offset of course by some of the government payments, the ECAP payment and some of that that is fortunately there to assist those producers through this challenging time.”
Van Nurden says livestock producers should see continued increases in net farm income partly because of lower production expenses.
