New app connects farm workers to employers
A new digital platform is working with the ag community to help farmers find workers.
AgHelp founder Feliciano Paredes tells Brownfield after growing up in a migrant family and a career in workforce development in Michigan, he saw a need for better resources for seasonal and long-term employees.
He says the platform will act similar to Yelp or Linked In, creating a community with worker and farm profiles as well as resources available across the country. “We’ve developed the platform in a way that anyone from a small, one or two person farm up to 100 to 200 processing or production facility would be able to utilize it.”
Paredes says the app can also help with H-2A recruiters and provide more transparency for farmers. “The H-2A recruiter, when they’re making offers or seeking workers, the employer will be able to see the profile of those workers.”
He says AgHelp will be available in English and Spanish, and potentially will add a translator chat feature to overcome language barriers.
