New FarmPath program aims to build sustainability and business skills for young farmers

The executive director of the Mosaic Company Foundation for Sustainable Food Systems says the next generation of agriculture will be better equipped thanks to the launch of FarmPath.
Ann Steensland tells Brownfield, “Farm Path is designed to provide both practical skills, mentorship opportunities, and an opportunity to build community and networks with other farmers.”
She says the partnership with Farm Foundation and Pepsico is looking to enroll 300 young farmers and ranchers into a three-year program.
“Farmers will have access to experts in agronomy topics like soil health or crop diversification.” She says, “They’ll also get some really great training in things like business management and have access to industry leaders and supply chain networks.”
Steensland says the mentorship aspect of FarmPath is aimed at building a sustainability plan for the next generation.
“The third step will be about implementing that plan, and there will be an opportunity for farmers to get some support financially to implement their plan,” she says.
Applications for the program will open in early 2026.
