New partnership aims to increase support for farmers, ethanol
A president of a county corn growers association says a new partnership with a Nebraska-based ethanol plant is raising awareness for clean burning fuels.
Mike Bergen of Hamilton County tells Brownfield that his association and KAAPA Ethanol recognize the importance of locally grown corn. “We’ve seen time and time again to delivering to an end user adds 30 plus cents a bushel over having to put it on rail or a local source. There’s also demand throughout feedlots, some smaller users, but on a large scale, ethanol plants are absolutely vital.”
He tells Brownfield the partnership could increase demand for higher blends of ethanol fuel. “I think it’s a win for everybody. Hopefully we can get the ball rolling on E15 soon, but it seems like we’re getting caught up in Washington.”
Bergen says the collaboration called From Field to Fuel will also support local FFA chapters.
