New training aims to help farmers communicate with consumers about pesticide use

Ag groups are hosting a pesticide messaging training next week to help farmers and retailers effectively communicate the benefits of crop protection tools.

KJ Johnson, President of the Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association tells Brownfield pesticides can be difficult to talk about with the general public.

“We will be perfecting those elevator speeches and thinking about how you talk with the general public for one or two minutes about how important crop protection products are going into the future.”

He says as pesticide regulations continue to get tighter, it’s important that everyone in the industry is confident in having these conversations with legislators as well.

“This is modern agriculture and we need these products. Especially if we are going to go to less tillage and more carbon neutral practices, we are gong to need these pesticides.”

IFCA and CropLife America are hosting The Pesticide Discussion training in Chicago, November 2nd-4th.  The program is open to farmers, retailers, and other industry partners from across the country. Click here to register.
