Next MAHA report isn’t expected to target the crop protection industry

The executive director of the Modern Ag Alliance says the second Make America Healthy Again report isn’t expected to target crop protection tools.
Elizabeth Burns-Thompson says the MAHA Commission submitted the draft text to the Trump administration on August 12th, and it is currently in the review process.
“We were pleased to see, coming out of the first report earlier this year, an increased dialogue with the agricultural community,” she says. “We are optimistic that those voices were heard amongst the ag community and much of that will be in this second report.”
She tells Brownfield farmers remained concerned about crop protection availability.
“When the EPA approves these products, they’re constantly going through and re-reviewing and re-registering them after a certain set period of time,” she says. “What the American farmer is using at the end of the day is tried and tested, and it is safe.”
Burns-Thompson says the recommendations are expected to focus on improving nutrition and limiting processed foods.
She says the finalized version of the report is expected to be released to the public this fall.
