NMPF agrees with new EPA air emission rule

A dairy group is supporting a proposed change by the EPA to an air emission reporting rule.

The EPA released a proposal to exempt manure air emissions reporting from the Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act (ECPRA) in November.

National Milk Producers President Jim Mulhern says the emergency response community has no use for these reports and they impede their emergency response functions.  Mulhern agrees with the EPA saying the air emissions from routine agricultural operations should be exempt.

National Milk filed their official comments with the EPA Friday.
