Northern Minnesota farmer on harvest: “very, very pleased”

Northwest Minnesota farmer Theresia Gillie recently finished harvest and says wheat yields were outstanding.

“Had some discounts for protein and things like that, but I ran out of room in my bin. And we just hate that, we ran out of space. And I just finished soybeans on Sunday and they were a little bit above average, so I’m very, very pleased.”

Gillie farms in Kittson County and tells Brownfield the growing season started dry.

“Then June was wet and cold and chilly, and July came and got hot. I wish we could’ve had one more rain a little bit sooner in August, but I would say the growing conditions were about as perfect as they could be here.”

She says there’s some fall tillage and fertilizer spreading that needs to be done now that harvest is over.
