Ohio 4-H’s Spark EXPO program is helping high school students prepare for their future careers

A collaboration between Ohio 4-H and Ohio State’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences is helping 4-H youth prepare for careers in agriculture.
Margo Overholt-Seckel with Ohio 4-H says Spark EXPO helps students solve problems in their area of interest.
“We try to feature all of our academic units to help students learn about what these folks do in each department,” she says. “The program helps make sure that these students are really prepared for both work and life.”
Kendall Wild says the organization helped her develop a passion for agricultural education.
“For the longest time, I knew I wanted to have a career in ag and touring the Ag Communication, Education, and Leadership department showed me that I want to be an extension educator through 4-H,” she says. “This program really helps students decide what they want to do in life.”
Overholt-Seckel says the four day program is part of Ohio 4-H Pathways to the Future, which is the state’s college and career readiness program.
