Ohio Corn and Wheat highlighting the benefits of E-15 this summer

The executive director of Ohio Corn and Wheat says the summer driving season is another opportunity to highlight how E-15 can strengthen the state’s ethanol industry.

Tadd Nicholson says it benefits farmers directly.

“Every time we have somebody move from 87 octane, which is 10% ethanol to 88 octane, which is 15%, they’re using 50% more corn.”

He tells Brownfield the Ohio Corn Checkoff is investing in efforts to raise consumer awareness about the fuel.

“Anybody that lives in rural Ohio and you’re not yet using unleaded 88 in your vehicle that’s made since 2001, we want to change that this summer with investment by our checkoff dollars,” he says. “We’re really expanding the knowledge and the education about unleaded 88 and its cost effectiveness.”

Nicholson says the association wants a federal fix that supports year-round E-15.
