Ohio Corn and Wheat lobbying for year-round E-15

Many ag groups still want to see Congress pass year-round E-15 legislation.

Director of public policy at Ohio Corn and Wheat Luke Crumley says there’s still work to do.

“When the Clean Air Act was written, E15 did not exist and now here in Ohio we have 5,000 gas stations in the state and only a couple hundred of them offer E15, that slightly higher blend of ethanol that’s approved for use in 94% of cars on the road today,” he says.

He tells Brownfield it benefits farmers and consumers.

“Consumers could decrease their carbon footprint, support the corn industry, and oh, by the way, save $0.20 a gallon when they fill up,” he says.

The Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act has now been introduced in the U.S. House that would enable year-round sales of E-15 fuel blends nationwide.
