Ohio Farm Bureau purchases champions from the 2024 Ohio State Fair
The Ohio State Fair’s Sale of Champions raised more than $260,000 for ag youth.
Ty Higgins, senior director of communications and media relations with the Ohio Farm Bureau says the sale is an investment in 4-H members.
“To have it all culminate with that sale of champions to really highlight our use and all the hard work they did all summer long to be a part of that is really special,” he says. “The sale of champions is the highlight of the State Fair and for Ohio agriculture, especially when it comes to showing off what the future of this industry looks like.”
The Ohio Farm Bureau purchased:
Grand Champion Market Steer: Annistyn Oszust, Tuscarawas County
Grand Champion Market Lamb: Ava Shroyer, Logan County
Reserve Champion Market Barrow: Kole Bishop, Champaign County
Other winners included:
Reserve Grand Champion Market Beef: Essie McGuire, Champaign County
Grand Champion Market Barrow: Kylie Locke, Clark County
Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb: Marshall Miller, Tuscarawas County
Grand Champion Meat Chickens: Alec Genter, Fulton County
Reserve Grand Champion Meat Chickens: Ava Hester, Clinton County
Grand Champion Market Turkey: Isabel Newman, Muskingum County
Grand Champion Market Goat: Maya McCoy, Fayette County
Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat: Braxton Method, Auglaize County
All proceeds from the sale go directly to the 4-H member and to the Virgil L. Strickler Youth Reserve Program to benefit youth that participate in the state fair every year.
