A southwest Ohio farmer says he’s mostly satisfied with his results from the 2025 crop year.

Eric Tipton says spring planting moved quickly.

“We had a pretty easy planting season with pretty favorable weather to get the crops in,” he said. “Not a whole lot of challenges there.”

He tells Brownfield some late-summer weather challenges impacted crop quality.

“We were looking pretty strong up until the beginning of August, but then the water shut off for us. It really took the top end off everything and we wound up with about a pretty average year.”

Tipton says harvest went smoothly.

“Decent weather most of the way through with your typical breakdowns and what not,” he said. “Overall, I’d say a pretty average and smooth year.”

He raises corn, soybeans, wheat, and triticale on 3000 acres in Fayette and Madison counties.

Tipton made his comments during Brownfield’s recent episode of Tailgate Talk.
