A northeast Ohio farmer says the Farmer Bridge Assistance program isn’t a long-term solution to help support the struggling farm economy.

Adele Flynn, who recently met with the President, says she’s optimistic the administration understands that.

“No farmer wants a handout,” she says. “The intent of me going there was just to have the ear of the administration on the importance of stronger markets, new markets, and opportunities for US farmers to sell our product in a competitive way.”

She tells Brownfield the administration is committed to supporting the ag industry.

“I was surprised with the investment that I think this administration has in agriculture,” she says. “I wasn’t expecting the support that  I felt walking out of that meeting.”

Flynn says President Trump also discussed nationwide, year-round E-15, Proposition 12, changes within the USDA, and renewable energy.
