Ohio FFA members celebrate National FFA Week through serving their communities

Ohio FFA’s state secretary says National FFA Week has been an opportunity for members to give back to their local communities.

Abbey Garland says ag youth across the country participated in events to help share the organization’s mission.

“In Ohio, that looks like service projects like the Veterans Remembrance Program, where FFA members honored veterans in their local cemetery with floral dedications,” she says. “Students also created a project titled My Jacket Our Journey, where they dedicated their FFA jacket to an ag teacher that has impacted their career.”

She tells Brownfield FFA helps ag youth grow their leadership skills throughout the year.

“Leadership doesn’t just come by participating in workshops or lesson plans, but it comes by being given the opportunities to practice those leadership skills,” she says. “It helps us prepare for the practical skills we may need in the workplace.”

Garland says the Ohio FFA Foundation raised over $30,000 during this year’s Give FFA Day to round out National FFA Week.
