Ohio Pork Council provides pork donation to Toledo area

The Ohio Pork Council is helping address food insecurity in the Toldeo area through several donations of fresh pork.

One donation went to the So All May Eat Café.  Head chef Courtney Schmidtke, says increased access to healthy meals is needed.

“We have a lot of the population that lives below the poverty line. A lot of the population, they don’t have real access to the food that they need to sustain themselves.”

President of the Ohio Pork Council, Nick Seger says the Pork Power Initiative is a way for producers to give back to their communities.

“Pork Power Initiative is a program where we either donate monetary or pork products to organizations throughout the state. We feel it is a great way to give back to the communities that were invested in and live and work.”

The Ohio Pork Council says they plan to continue to provide future grants through the Pork Power initiative.
